My recommendation is to purchase an electric trimmer for goatee trimming. I bought a thirty dollar cordless goatee trimmer 2 years ago after spending way too much time trimming my goatee using scissors.

Using a goatee trimmer similar to the one I have ensures that your goatee is symmetrical and neat.

Also, the in-built length selector enables me to get the length of the hair rather than guessing with a pair of scissors. My trimmer gives me 3 different length choices.

The bottom line is that to avoid having to spend a lot of time and effort on goatee grooming, getting an electric trimmer is probably the best way to go.
