Bio-Hazard Remediation

"Mold Remediation"

Mold can grow inside a building whenever moisture is introduced to organic materials
and not dried out properly or in a timely enough manner. One aspect of remediation that must first be addressed is the physical signs of mold which is the black, green, red, ect. colors that are noticeable on sheetrock, baseboards, or other structural components. The first step before the materials can be removed is to contain the area by erecting polyethylene barriers and the use of hepa filtered negative air machines. The second aspect that must be addressed is the mold spores which are microscopic and cannot be seen by the naked eye. The only accurate way to determine the extent of mold spore contamination is to take samples and have them analyzed at a lab. The remediation procedure for the mold spores is first to remove them dry, by hepa-vacuuming the affected surfaces. Next the surfaces are cleaned thoroughly with a biocide solution. Last, depending on the situation a polymer sealer with a residual antimicrobial may be used on some surfaces. Mold remediation is an area where it is wise that you have it done by a contractor that has the training and equipment to do it properly as it can easily escalate the cost if done improperly.
