How does it help it survive?
WHAT ARE ADAPTATIONS OF BIG BLUE STEM GRASS!
It is best in moist, sandy or clay loams but also occurs in dry or shallow soils. It does well in full sun or partial shade.
However, it has adapted to prairie conditions by becoming resilient in low nutrient and low moisture content soils, such as well-drained soil with low fertility.
Because of these adaptations, it’s not suited for heavy clays, extremely wet bottomlands, deep sands, soils with high lime content, or a high salinity.
