Even though vacuuming can remove most of the dry soil, it is also necessary to clean
your carpet on a regular basis to remove the oily, sticky soil that builds up in the pile as a result
of cooking vapors, air pollution, and tracked-in dirt from outside.
The particles of oily soil deposited on carpet fibers can cause gradual but significant dulling
of delicate pastel colors; the color isn't lost but is hidden under the film. If this type of soil is allowed
to accumulate, it begins to attract and hold the dry soil. This is the reason cleaning is so important
when dulling of the color is first noticed; if allowed to remain too long, it becomes gummy and difficult to remove.
If your carpet is cleaned before it becomes too unsightly, the cleaning chore will
be easier and more successful. It is a myth that cleaning the carpet before it is absolutely necessary
will cause it to get dirty faster. Carpet in a typical household should be cleaned every 12 to 18 months
depending upon the number of residents and amount and type of activity.
Choice of the proper cleaning system is important. Crystal Clean uses the
Hot Water Extraction System with an RX-20 Rotary cleaning tool which is the best tool for agitation and extraction. The self-propelled RX-20 consistently cleans all areas of the carpet, as the operator's physical strength is not important. It applies the power of 5 men simultaneously cleaning, returning carpet fibers to a like-new fluffy condition. This is how it works. Five powerful cleaning heads rotate over the carpet, flushing and removing deeply embedded soil from all sides of the carpet fiber.

CARE FOR YOUR CARPET AND UPHOLSTERY
Your carpet and upholstery are exposed to many different types of soils,
some of which you may have never considered a problem.
- Atmospheric Soils - Consider the dust that builds up on a coffee table or desk over a week's time. This same dust and dirt is being deposited on your carpet and furnishings. To this dust, add the airborne cooking oils and atmospheric pollution that is present to some degree in every home.
- Dyes and Inks - The inks from newsprint in newspapers will readily be deposited on upholstery. Shoe polish can easily transfer to the carpet. Clothes such as denims will lose some of their dye onto upholstery and carpet in a process called "crocking". Don't forget the occasional leaky pen or 2-year-old artist with a flare for using marking pens.
- Oils and Grease - Body oils from both humans and animals cause soils to attach and hold onto fibers. Tracked-in grease and oil from automobiles create problems. Hair oil is easily transferred to the back of a recliner.
- Common Soils - This includes the outside tracking of the common sand and vegetable fibers from plants. These are tracked onto the carpet from the bottoms of shoes and transferred to upholstery from clothes, kids, and animals. Also included are the everyday food spills and spots.
