Cup Tea
Is there anything I should change about this diet?
I researched and found that, for my height (5’3”), a healthy weight would be between 108 and 114, but I am finding it difficult to lose the last 5-10 pounds and tone up. Is it a matter of waiting longer before I see results or should I change something about my current diet/exercise program? I’d appreciate any help!
For the past few weeks:
Breakfast: Cereal w/ ½ cup soy milk- 160 calories
Tea w/ 1/3 cup soy milk – 35 calories
Lunch: Turkey sandwich w/ lettuce and tomato (no mayonnaise) on whole grain bread
Tea w/ 1/3 cup milk- 35 calories
Snack: diced canned tomatoes- 90 calories
Dinner: Salad (carrots, lettuce, tomatoes, chicken, salsa) no dressing, 1 apple
OR
Teriyaki chicken with vegetables
Dessert: 2 cups of grapes, 2 cups frozen strawberries
Snack: 2 cups tea w/ 1/3 cup soy milk in each- 70 calories
Water: 4 glasses each day
Exercise: 30+ minutes of running 10MPH on the treadmill (about 4 days a week)
It’s just the law of lower returns.
A person who’s out of shape and overweight, only needs to do small changes to see big improvements. The fitter you get, the lower are your returns for the same effort.
If you’re only 10lbs out of the supposed healthy weight you stated, then you’re more than fine. It also depends on genetics and body type.
Also if you want tone, you’ll have to increase muscle mass (do weights), which in turn increases your metabolism. If you choose to do so, you’ll probably have to increase your calorie intake. Also beware that muscle is denser than fat. If you choose to do weights, your weight will probably increase, but that’s okay because its muscle so you’ll end up looking leaner.
