Costa Rica Holidays
Costa Rican active holidays can be a once in a lifetime experience and as with all holidays you will want to plan ahead to make sure you get the most out of your time in this beautiful country located at the heart on Central America. There is loads of advice to be had online form forums and blogs, which have people who can tell you the little things that will make your time in Costa Rica all that more enjoyable.
Money in Costa Rica
First things first you need a place to stay and a way to get from the airport to your hotel but then you will need to worry about some local currency for your time in Costa Rica. In Costa Rica the currency in use is called the Colon. Airports in Costa Rica may not offer the best exchange rate but they will give you a convinient way to get some local currency in your pocket when you touch down in Costa Rica. You will benefit from changing some money at home before you travel and then getting some more money out while in Costa Rica.
Using US dollars in Costa Rica is acceptable in most cases but expect to pay extra than you would when using Colons. You will be able to get some Colons by purchasing something with US dollars and then asking for change in local currency although again you may find yourself slightly short changed. Ensure that your US notes are in good condition as any tears will make them next to useless in Costa Rica.
Top Sights in Costa Rica
For Costa Rica’s main attraction visit the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve. The cloud forest really capture the imagination of everyone and it is as suitable for lone travellers as it is for families or people travelling as part of a group. You can see the butterfly garden in the town, which has a huge diversity of exotic species.
Check out an active volcano, Volcan Arenal is a great opportunity to get up and close with the sheer brute force of nature. While you can see the volcano from your hotel there is nothing like taking a dip in one of the hot springs that are near by.
Costa Rican active holidays are a break from the norm and offer a real adventure holiday in some spectacular surroundings.
