why does a conventional salt cellar on have one hole?
as opposed to a pepper pot which has dozens
Most people use more salt than pepper. The larger hole in the salt shaker makes it easier to flow and control how much you use because you can see it. I have a set of shakers where the holes are the same size and inevitably you get too much salt added as it hard to see the salt coming out.
