Tips for Preventing a Water Loss

  • Use Steel Braided Washing Machine Hoses
  • Turn water supply off to washer and ice maker if you leave town
  • Do not leave garden hose running if you are not home
  • Make sure your outside faucets are winterized BEFORE it gets really cold
  • Regularly check drains and supply lines for all sinks and toilets
  • Use copper pipes for ice maker water lines
  • Proper septic tank maintenance
  • Check for holes in roof
  • Make sure moisture in the attic is venting outside
  • Regularly check your floor drain to be sure it is draining properly, if not have it cleaned out
  • Make sure you have extensions on your rain gutters and they drain AWAY from the house
  • Be sure to close all basement windows if you leave the house
  • Have your hot water heater serviced once a year
