What are the implications of buying a 100-year-old wood frame house?
How long does the wood frame normally last?
That depends on a lot of factors. do you live in an area known for termites? Do you live in an area known for excessive moisture? Has the property been well maintained? Does it have a good foundation that keeps all the wood framing well above ground level? Are there tree’s and bushes encroaching on the property?
Hire a good home inspector and make that a condition of buying. Inspectors that are a member of ASHI (American society of home Inspectors) are usually the best.
